Intrigued and driven by the journey from narrative to image, Eva-Chloe Vazaka explores the transformation of story into visual form. This journey informs her ongoing investigation into form, colour, perspective, and depth, unfolding across overlapping and consecutive layers of the canvas.

For Vazaka, the narrative becomes the foundation of each layer, much like a traditional design process using tracing paper—her words are transposed onto the canvas, shaping the composition. The construction of the narrative mirrors the methodology of design: beginning with observation, followed by research, sketching, and culminating in the testing of a proposed solution.

Using printing rollers and mixing paint directly on the canvas, Eva-Chloe Vazaka embeds language into the medium itself. The visual result feeds back into the narrative, prompting its evolution and generating new layers in response. This dialogue between image and text continues until a resolution is reached.

Eva-Chloe Vazaka was born in Athens and now lives and works in London.
