‘I have taken my vision of creating atmospheric and sensory spaces that tells a story through the fabric of the building and incorporated these ideas into my paintings and collages’
Scottish artist Alice Boyle grew up on Kelburn estate near the seaside town of Largs on the West coast. Kelburn’s natural setting and beauty fuelled her inspiration and is displayed through her art by her surreal and vibrant style, designed to stimulate the viewer's own imagination. ‘Kelburn is a magical and dreamlike place which has been an abundant source of inspiration for me and for many others throughout the years.’ Having studied interior architecture at the Edinburgh College of Art and continuing to a Masters, Alice was keen to get back to painting and her degree has served as an influence on her work, making it distinctive. The abstracted figures in her paintings and flashes of bright colour create an enticing effect. Alice is inspired by the power of dreams, mythology, and the collective unconscious, using textures, vivid colours, shapes/symbols and layering techniques, aiming to stimulate the senses while exploring the eternal and intrinsic search for individual wholeness through the process of art and creativity.
